The Met Restaurant is the only Michelin-starred hotel restaurant in Venice, and one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants in the whole city. The atmosphere is intimate and sophisticated, the service attentive and discreet. Generous windows offer a scenic view of the island of San Giorgio, while wood panelling, elegantly designed Fortuny lamps, damask cushions, warm velvets, comfortable seating, mirrors in seventeenth-century gilt frames, an antique Indian coffer, 19th-century Thai armour displayed on the walls create a stylish and intriguing decor in perfect harmony with the creative cuisine of Corrado Fasolato. A genuine maestro, he reinterprets the Mediterranean and Veneto traditions, using the freshest of local produce and bringing to them imagination and artistry to work a successful alchemy combining the flavours and techniques of local cuisine with those of exotic Oriental cuisine. Unusual marriages and blends of colours, aromas and flavours attain a perfect equilibrium, the result a veritable feast to delight the senses.
The hotel is a four-storey block in pale stone and with green shutters around each window. Being close to the water it has its own mooring points, both to the fore and to the side of the building. The hotel's style is traditional throughout.
The lobby area has several green velvet covered settees and armchairs and a view which looks out to the water. It is medium size with a particular care for all details.
The hotel is in an excellent position. CQ 08/08
